Skins of Colour and Melanoma

The workshop was designed based on the D&AD New Blood Student Awards Scheme briefs proposals. The 21 Grams brief aimed to develop an idea that not only raises awareness on skin cancer (melanoma) in people of colour, but also helps to drive diagnosis to allow people to receive the treatments they need.

Regardless of ethnicity, melanoma skin cancer is a real issue. Through the Skins of Colour & Melanoma fanzine, I claim that fear-based messaging doesn’t cause people to take action. The triggers I propose are related to behaviour, motivation to act, and positive emotional reaction. These are key to reach the audience and create a positive impact. Therefore, I hope this project will forward our global awareness on melanoma skin cancer, where people of colour are informed and protected.
